ISO 26000 in the context of UN Commission on sustainable development

A working session was held in the partnership fair at the 19th session of the Commission for Sustainable Development (CDD19) on the theme of « ISO 26000: a tool for implementing the 10 year framework of program on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and national strategies for sustainable development through partnership  »

This session allowed interactions with many delegates on the establishment of a partnership initiative based on ISO 26000.

The event was organized by the Institute of Energy and the Environment (IEPF) subsidiary organ of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
The meeting was opened by Thomas Guerber Deputy Permanent Representative at thje Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN as president of the International Organization of la Francophonie.

Stephen Oates expert who had participated in the negotiation of the standard on behalf of the International Labour Organization has demonstrated its experience.

Arab Hoballah, Head of the branch SCP UNEP has developed the links between sustainable consumption and production and strategic issues including deployment of 10 YFP and the potential offered by ISO 26000

Christian BRODHAG: Professor at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne, a member of the Advisory Council of IEPF recalled the negotiation history of the standard, its content and its joint interest with the international institutions.

Sibi Bonfils for UNISFERA: developed the governance issues of sustainable development and issues of implementation of ISO 26000 based on the results to the Participatory Assessment of Optimal Governance for Sustainable Development which was conducted in the Francophone world.

Finally Tounao KIRI Program officer for NSSD at IEPF (OIF) has submitted proposals for partnership of the OIF and potential roles of stakeholders in the implementation of 10YFP.
